For over 40 years, Kate Ceberano has told stories through song. Now, that storytelling takes form in wearable art.
Developed as an idea she workshopped with local dressmakers and artisans—evolving over time until they became the signature piece of her 2025 Australian Made sold out national tour.
Today, that vision is ready for everyone—wearable pieces that carry a little rock ’n’ roll, and a lot of story.
“My conversation with needle and thread begins with a question: who are we, and what language do we speak when we cut off our minds and tune into our genetic intuition?
The fingers begin to move, tracing lines across empty space — and the song begins.
These are my songs.
They are our songs.
The layers of conversation run long and deep, leading me further into the unknown. What happens when I take needle and coloured thread, and translate these songs into form — into embroidery, into print, into something I can wrap around the body?
What if a song could move?
What if it could be worn?
What if it could live on a wall, or on a body, as living art?
I want to live with my ancestors every day — to carry them forward from their past lives into my present, and into worlds beyond.”
